Yoga

Yoga is a century old system of mind and body fitness. From physical fitness developing flexibility, strength, balance, posture, co-ordination and body awareness. As well, yoga gives attention to the breath reminding us how to breathe properly, expanding lung capacity and improving endurance. But as well as excercising our body yoga also helps us learn to relax, with yoga teaching us how to take a few moments from the busy and hectic pace that is life to simply breathe, relax and be calmer.

Beginner Adult Yoga Course

Regular courses are run - each course is between 6 to 10 weeks depending on school holidays and will introduce the basic yoga postures, basic breath work as well as different relaxation techniques - it is ideal for those new to yoga or returning to exercise. Hatha Yoga is taught, which is a gentle and traditional form of yoga.

  • Tuesdays 6.30pm - 7.30pm
  • The Old Chapel, Upminster (St Mary's Lane adjacent to Sacred Heart School*)

Gentle Hatha Yoga Class (4 week block booking)

These Hatha Yoga classes are suitable for all abilities and are taught in  a small class so suitable for beginners and experienced alike.

  • Mondays 10am to 11.15am
  • Garden Studio, Upminster

The course costs £40 for 4 weeks and run monthly. Classes can be booked individually for £15. Please get in touch to find out next course start date and availability or use link below to book.

Adult All Levels Evening Class (drop in or block book)

These Hatha Yoga classes are suitable for all abilities although some yoga expereince is recommended. Postures are introduced at their most basic and stuidents can work through levels introduced or work at level appropirate for them making it a suitable class for all abilities. Each class includes breathwortk as well as a guided relaxation/ meditation. It is a tradtional hatha yoga class.

  • Tuesday Evenings 8pm - 9.30pm
  • The Old Chapel, Upminster (St Mary's Lane adjacent to Sacred Heart School*)

 Classes are £9 drop in or £45 for 6 weeks.

All classes require the completion of a health questionnaire.  Please use this to advise of any medical/health issues you have. Remember yoga is an excellent form of excercise for health and well-being but does not replace seeing your GP.
