About Us

Heartfelt Yoga was the creation of Vikki Kavanagh in 2014. After practising yoga for several years Vikki wanted yoga to be a bigger part of her life and with several years of working in education and local schools she knew how much children could benefit from yoga so it was only natural that she took a path that would lead to her being able to teach children and teenagers.With many parents asking if she also teaches adults classes Vikki has added adult classes to her weekly class schedule and has regular beginner yoga coures as well as weekly all levels classes.

Vikki came to yoga quite late in life in her early thirties when it became a necessity as she could no longer manage the terrible back pain from a neck injury sustained as a teenager. Her chiropractor recommended (or told her!) to take up yoga. Whilst the yoga was physically harder than she had expected it was mentally that she found yoga most challenging. She found that her mind struggled to slow down to the pace of the class reflecting her busy and hectic lifestyle. But gradually as she regained her body back with the physical side of yoga discovered she was also becomming a calmer person that had learnt to control her busy mind that reflected the busy life, but still enjoying a fun-filled and hectic life.

"That is at the crux of why I am so passionate to share yoga with children. I really wish I had learnt yoga at a younger age. All the years of literally carrying the stress with me in my body, scrunched shoulders and aching neck. Yoga has taught me to let go of the worries. I recognise they still exist but I try not to let them rule my life. How wonderful that I can share this with children to use in their own lives."

Having qualified to teach Yoga to Children at the Special Yoga Centre under the guidance of the auspicious and knowledgeable teacher Jo Manuel Vikki continued her yoga training and after completing the British Wheel of Yoga level one Foundation Course in 2013, went on to qualify with a BWY Level 4 Certificate in Teaching Yoga in 2015 and added to this qualification with the BWY 500HR Diploma in 2020. Vikki has also trained with Heather Mason of the Minded Institute in Yoga Therapy for Trauma and PTSD, as well as Yoga for Teenagers with Christianne Kerr.

 

 

As a daily meditator Vikki's training also includes teaching meditation and mindfulness to both adults, children and teens (is a qualified Youth Mindfulness Teacher) and teaches regular learn to meditate workshops and monthly meditation sessions. All Vikki's classes include an element of minfulness and meditation.

Her background and work experience background includes youth work, lecturer with basic skills students, leader in the Scouts (Beavers aged 6-8) and has worked in marketing in the education sector for over four years until recently. This adds up to a broad experience working with children of different ages and as such has had an enhanced CRB (now known as DBS) check.
